Maison Jambon is surrounded by some of the most beautiful treasures in the Beaujolais region that you can explore on foot or by bike… Everything is at an easy distance to make the day you come for a tasting a memorable one. Welcome!

Mont Brouilly, a Beaujolais emblem

You cannot have a trip to Saint-Lager without exploring Mont Brouilly. Overlooking the vineyards at 484 metres above sea-level; from here are magnificent panoramic views over the Saone plain, the Alps and the Monts du Beaujolais hills. Atop this stand-alone hill, watching over our vines since the 19th century is Notre-Dame-des-Raisins Chapel (our Lady of the grape). There are a number of marked trails you can follow with halts specially created for you to learn more about the area’s history and geology.

Hiking, cycling and wide open spaces

The estate’s surrounding area is perfectly suited to outdoor activities. There are a wide variety of walking and hiking trails through the vineyardss. Cyclists can enjoy our Beaujolais Voie Verte, the Voie Bleue in Belleville-en-Beaujolais, or use the cycling routes that go through our vinegrowing villages. There are also trails laid out to show off the Beaujolais UNESCO Geopark landscapes, making the most of the area’s undulating terrain.

A family outing, fun in nature

There are a good number of activities for all ages in and around Saint-Lager. For a summer’s day by the water there is a beach and leisure centre at Cormoranche-sur-Saône with supervised swimming, beach facilities, children’s play area and outdoor activities in a natural setting.

Geology, heritage and wine culture

The area has been a UNESCO World Geopark site since 2018, highlighting our exceptional geological history. Mont Brouilly is one of the major geosites in this network and helps us understand the origins of our famous “pierre bleue” or “blue stone” that characterises part of our local terroir. Set between vinegrowing heritage and landscapes sculpted by the vines and villages with personality, Saint-Lager and its vicinity are an invitation to explore an area where nature, history and culture are closely entwined.
