This grey grape variety with personality boasts opulence and characteristic flavours. Well-built, rounded and long on the palate, the aromas and flavours are complex, include undergrowth and are sometimes lightly smoky or floral.

Terroir: this variety really enjoys the continental climate; it is very resistant to cold and spring frosts. The vines grow on very sunny limestone land. Limestone-clay soil.

Harvest: Hand-picked with very careful sorting

Vinification: hand picking keeps the bunches whole for vinification. Direct pressing after maceration on the skins for 6 hours.

Maturing; in oak barrels

Certification: HVE3, the highest French governmental environmental certification

Robe: Golden yellow robe tending towards bronze, or even amber, if you can wait long enough for it to age

Nose: discrete with peach and apricot aromas and scents of undergrowth and dried fruit

Palate: full, supple and rounded, giving this wine a true pedigree

Serving suggestions: just as enjoyable as an aperitif as with a starter like lentil salad, salmon tartare or with a chicken curry, duck breast, veal cutlet, veal blanquette and mushroom risotto, and even mountain cheeses like tome, Reblochon or Vacherin

Estate: We have been vinegrower-winemakers for 5 generations on the commune of Saint-Lager at the foot of famous Mont Brouilly, topped with its iconic chapel. We also craft; Brouilly, Côte de Brouilly, Chiroubles, Fleurie, Morgon, Moulin à Vent and Régnié, not forgetting Beaujolais Villages as well as white, rosé and sparkling wines. Our estate gained the ultimate accolade in 2016 when our Chiroubles 2015 was awarded Best Gamay in the World (Meilleur Gamay du Monde). We care for the environment and craft organic red and white wine (PURE collection).
