The intense colour of this wine’s robe oscillates between dark garnet and deep ruby. The nose is a burst of flowers and fruit, with violet, backed up by cherry, at the fore. Refined, harmonious, full, complex, tannic, fleshy and subtly spicy flavours intermingle. Astonishing length.

Terroir: The listed 15th century windmill that gives this Cru its name is surrounded by vineyards. It is the pride of the appellation. The terroir is made up of granitic arena and is east facing, making the most of the sun from when it rises. The manganese-rich subsoil leaves its very distinct stamp on this Cru.

Harvest: Hand-picked to keep the bunches whole for vinification, this remains traditional with vatting lasting an average of 16 days.

Robe: beautiful ripe blackcurrant hue

Nose: after a few years, this wine develops iris, fully blown rose, sweet spice and ripe fruit aromas, followed by undergrowth and truffle. It is structured and elegant. In its youth the aromas are floral and fruity, including violet and cherry.

Palate: full-bodied and complex. A real treat. THE cellaring wine that, with aging is reputed to ‘pinot’

Serving suggestions: a great partner to beef tournedos, coq au vin and roast red meat, meat in sauce, duck steaklet, game and cheese. Serve it with great gastronomy or just simply for a great occasion.

Estate: We have been vinegrower-winemakers for 5 generations on the commune of Saint-Lager at the foot of famous Mont Brouilly, topped with its iconic chapel. We also craft; Brouilly, Côte de Brouilly, Chiroubles, Fleurie, Morgon, Moulin à Vent and Régnié, not forgetting Beaujolais Villages as well as white, rosé and sparkling wines. Our estate gained the ultimate accolade in 2016 when our Chiroubles 2015 was awarded Best Gamay in the World (Meilleur Gamay du Monde). We care for the environment and craft organic red and white wine (PURE collection).
